Montclair Orchestra Video Archives

The worldwide spread of Covid-19 has swiftly and completely altered reality for all of us in just the past few weeks. For the performing arts, the abrupt termination of the winter season is nothing short of disastrous for many organizations, including the Metropolitan Opera which has been my artistic home since 2000.

How we move on from here and put the world back together when “normalcy” returns is a giant question, but one thing is abundantly clear to me: we will need music more than ever. Music is the one true universal language that transcends all barriers and boundaries, even our current (and bizarre) reality of maximum social distance. It can go straight to the soul and speak to you without the power of words; it can unite people who do not share a common tongue.

So in that spirit, although we are of course disappointed to lose the Montclair Orchestra’s much-anticipated season finale featuring talented singers from the Met’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, we are pleased to announce that we will post a performance from our video archives each Wednesday at 2 pm EST. These videos will be made available for viewing on Facebook, YouTube, and IGTV.

The music must continue during this difficult time in our history — it is what connects us. #MusicConnectsUs
